The scenario is common:<\/p>

After several months of planning, an EHS digitalization project is launched. Teams have participated in planning workshops, the system has been configured, training sessions have been completed, and initial users are receiving support. <\/p>

On paper, everything is ready. Yet a few weeks after the rollout, certain behaviors raise questions. Some steps in the process are bypassed, certain features are rarely used, and teams sometimes return to their previous ways of working to handle day-to-day situations. <\/p>

The conclusion is often quick: users are resistant to change. But the reality is usually more complex.<\/p>

In EHS projects, the real challenge is not simply making a tool available. The field doesn’t operate according to a process<\/h2>

When a project is designed, processes are generally structured in a logical way.<\/p>

Each step has a purpose. Responsibilities are defined. Approvals follow a specific sequence. On paper, the process appears coherent. But day-to-day operations do not always follow this scenario. <\/p>

A contractor arrives earlier than expected. A manager is unavailable to approve a request. Urgent work needs to be completed within a very short timeframe. An EHS manager is simultaneously handling several high-priority issues. <\/p>

In this environment, users naturally look for ways to save time and keep work moving despite unexpected situations.<\/p>

When a digitalized process leaves no room for these operational realities, it becomes difficult to apply in day-to-day work.<\/p>

The issue is not necessarily the tool itself. It often comes from a gap between the process as it was designed and the way work is actually carried out. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Users judge a tool by how much time it saves them<\/h2>

Site teams do not think like a project team. They are not primarily asking whether the tool improves data quality or makes consolidated reporting easier. <\/p>

Their first question is much simpler: “Does this tool make my job easier?”<\/em><\/p>

If a process takes longer than it did before, if information is difficult to find, or if certain steps seem unnecessary, gaining user buy-in becomes more difficult.<\/p>

Conversely, when users quickly see that they have less duplicate data entry, can find information more easily, or spend less time on administrative tasks<\/a>, adoption becomes much more natural.<\/p>

Perceived value is often more important than the theoretical value of a project.<\/p>

The same tool doesn’t meet every user’s expectations<\/h2>

EHS projects often involve a wide range of users, each with different responsibilities, priorities, and expectations.<\/p>

An EHS manager, an operations manager, a contractor, and a maintenance manager will not necessarily use the same tool in the same way.<\/p>
